We’ ll Remove Buhari if He Fails to Address Insecurity – Rep. Member

Alphonsus Nweze

The National Assembly’s ultimatum to impeach President0 Muhammadu Buhari, if there is no respite on insecurity in the country is still on course.

A member of House of Representatives from Anambra State, Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo, stated this during the weekend in Onitsha, the Anambra State commercial hub.

He said the National Assembly is currently on recess and would resume by September when they will review the ultimatum given to the President.

Ezenwankwo who represents Orumba North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives said: “I think it is a serious thing, because security of life and property is the primary assignment of any responsible government…What we are doing now is to make sure we fix the country. If the president is not ready to bring security challenges to an end, we are ready to remove him.”

He said if they see seriousness on the part of the president and his men to bring down insecurity by their resumption, they would not go ahead with the impeachment, but if insecurity continues, they would not hesitate to impeach the president.

Ezenwankwo, a former market leader in Anambra State backed Mr. Peter Obi’s presidential bid when he stated that based on justice, equity and fairness, the South East of Nigeria should be given the opportunity to produce the president in 2023.

Although, Ezenwankwo is in People’s Democratic Party (PDP) now, he is optimistic that he would dust the candidates of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and Labour Party to win the 2023 election in his federal constituency.

He anchored his optimism on the ground that election is about an individual, not party. He explained that party is just like a vehicle.

“I so much believe that if you are going to Lagos and your vehicle broke down at Benin. You should find another vehicle to your destination. What matters most is whether you reached your destination,” he analysed.

The legislator said the National Assembly has not intervened in ASUU strike because it is purely an executive issue but stated that personally his view is that Federal Government should do everything possible for ASUU to suspend its strike.
He said: “We have to be careful in handling the strike, so that our children will go back to school. It is very important. We should not play politics with it. It is unacceptable.” He ended.
